Brambles is a Care Farm and Animal Assisted Therapy & Countryside Skills Education Centre

Based on a working smallholding which specialises in rare breed pigs, goats, and poultry, combined with horticultural activities.

Brambles Living Farm runs one off and regular activity sessions for people of all ages with special needs. Brambles is a very special and unique place for people to spend quality time, on their own or with their families, taking part in daily farm tasks, such as collecting eggs and feeding the animals. Then they spend time quietly sitting with and holding babies like piglets and chicks, and take the opportunity to groom and cuddle the rabbits.

Worcester Country Council’s Aiming High for Disabled Children programme now subsidise a number of activity places for children and young people between the ages of 5 and 19, at weekends and during school holidays throughout the year.

Brambles Country College provides a range of education and countryside-skills training for people of all ages and levels of ability. School visits to Brambles are fully guided by our enthusiastic farm and animal experts. There are several activity workshops, which are designed to gradually develop the student’s knowledge about animals, their needs and dependencies, and encourages an awareness of our responsibilities towards living creatures and the environment.

Situated in the middle of Castlemorton Common, just south of Malvern, Brambles is in the middle an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with spectacular views over the Malvern Hills and the Severn Valley. There is an air of safe haven, calmness, quiet and beauty. This naturally leads to a feeling of wellbeing and supports a relaxed way of learning.

Volunteers wanted

Due to the increasing number of special needs people who are attending during the week and at weekends, Brambles are looking to build their team of volunteers to help supervise activities and to support the working of the farm. If you have experience of looking after special needs people, special countryside-skills, such as spinning, artwork and woodwork, or if you simply like the idea of being involved and helping-out Brambles would love to hear from you.
